The newly built Choiseul Provincial (CP) administration office complex in Taro is progressing well, with final touches needed before completion.
The building complex is one of the project funded under the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF).
In an interview, Mr Nathan Navala, director of Navs building construction said the project is in its final stage, awaiting arrival of major materials, including plexiglass and air-conditioning units.
He added that plexiglass for windows and doors, along with the air-conditioning units is expected to arrive in the second week of August.
“We are now at the finishing stage on painting, plumbing, tiling and installing of electrical wirings,” he said.
Navala also stated that the completion of the facility has been prolonged, due to logistics challenges and material delays.
“While the project was scheduled for 9 months, materials delays has forced us to request a 3 month extension to get the job done,” he explained.
He noted that materials cost have become a significant challenge, exceeding Bill of Quantities (BOQ) estimates due annual price surges.
“The Cost of materials particularly Plexiglas’s, air-condition units and other electrical supplies doesn’t match what’s in the BOQ,” he said
However, once completed the complex will accommodate provincial government offices.
