The passage of the National Building Standard Act 2025 on Thursday 15 August 2025 has been welcomed by the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI), describing it as a landmark achievement in strengthening and regulating the country’s building and construction sector.
SICCI acknowledges the Solomon Islands Government, Members of Parliament (MP) and the Ministry of Infrastructure Development (MID) for their leadership in advancing this important piece of legislation.

SICCI has called for strong collaboration between the private sector and MID to ensure the successful implementation of the Act.
This partnership will be key to ensuring that building standards are practical, enforceable, and aligned with both safety requirements and business efficiency.
“The passing of the National Building Standard Act 2025 marks a progressive step forward for our nation’s infrastructure development. We applaud the government for recognising the importance of having clear standards that protect public safety while supporting industry growth.
