A multi-million-dollar hotel called – the Xiaos Henderson Hotel was officially unveiled over the weekend.
The hotel, owned by a Solomon Islands citizen, is strategically located opposite the Honiara International Airport Terminal east of Honiara.
Despite a light drizzle, spirits remained high as Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) Frederick Kologeto grace the occasion to officiate at the grand opening.
The opening program featured the cutting the ribbon and speeches, marking the formal launch of the colourful and luxurious facility.
Speaking on behalf of the company, former Deputy Police Commissioner Walter Kola said the occasion marked more than just the opening of a hotel.
“We are celebrating the realisation of a dream — a dream of providing exceptional hospitality, creating unforgettable experiences, and making a meaningful contribution to the Solomon Islands tourism industry,” he said.

Mr Kola thanked both local and overseas construction teams, particularly Shaanxi Guangrun Engineering Co. Ltd, Gaozhou City Dabashou Commercial Co. Ltd, and Guangdong Honglin Construction Ltd, for completing the project within one year.
He also acknowledged ANZ Bank for its support.
“Your trust and investment have been instrumental in bringing this venture to life,” he said.
Meanwhile, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Philip Sukibuka, said the development demonstrated what could be achieved when private sector investment aligned with national priorities.

He said the Xiaos Henderson Hotel not only raised the standard of accommodation and services in the country, but also supported the Government for National Unity and Transformation’s policy priorities, including economic transformation, unity and stability, infrastructure development, and human capital development.
“Through job creation, local procurement and the delivery of high-quality visitor experiences, this hotel contributes directly to economic diversification and inclusive growth,” Mr Sukibuka said.
“Its modern facilities strengthen our tourism infrastructure, while its investment in staff training and skills development supports our commitment to building strong human capital.”

The Solomon Islands Government has supported the hotel through approved investment incentives and exemptions, aimed at reducing start-up costs and encouraging quality developments in priority sectors such as tourism.
The Xiaos Henderson Hotel is expected to attract more international visitors and contribute to the Solomon Islands Government’s target of reaching 100,000 visitor arrivals by 2025.
