The Solomon Islands National Broadband Infrastructure Project (SINBIP) has brought enhanced telecommunications to East Choiseul Constituency with the official launch of a new tower site at Chivoko.
This milestone marks another step forward in bridging the digital divide across rural Solomon Islands.
The tower, now fully operational, promises to deliver reliable mobile and internet coverage to previously underserved communities in East Choiseul, Choiseul Province.
The construction of the Telecommunication towers is made possible through the funding from the People’s Republic of China implemented by China Harbour Engineering Company Limted and Huawei in collaboration with the Ministry of Communication and Aviation of the Solomon Islands Government.
Tower constructions in other sites across the Solomon Islands is currently underway.
Local residents and leaders hailed the development as a game-changer.
The upgrade addresses longstanding challenges in remote areas, where weak signals have hindered daily communication and economic opportunities.
SINBIP, a key national initiative, continues to expand broadband access nationwide. Boosted connectivity at Chivoko will support vital services like online learning, and e-commerce, fostering growth in women and youth empowerment programs.
This launch highlights the government’s commitment to inclusive infrastructure amid ongoing regional development efforts.
