A NEW trial date has been set on Tuesday for the suspended police officer facing a larceny charge.
Florence Taro was supposed to stand trial on Monday for two counts of larceny in a dwelling house but she did not turn up in court that day.
The defence is also seeking more time.
The matter came again in court yesterday where the trial was vacated and a new trial fixed in May.
The hearing will kick off in May 11 and continue for a week.
Mrs Taro was accused of stealing $100,000, money belonging to her husband’s tribe in Makira called the Irawaru Tribe.
It was alleged that her husband who was a member of that tribe was the one entrusted to look after the money for the tribe.
Prosecution alleged that during two occasions in 2011 in Honiara, Mrs Taro first stole $20,000 and then $80,000 later.
