TAX-PAYERS through the West Kwaio Constituency Office has enabled Gwaidingale Community High School (CHS) to take ownership of a new three-ton pick up truck.
Member of Parliament (MP) for West Kwaio Constituency, Hon. Claudius Tei’ifi officially handed over the school on Tuesday at a brief ceremony in Honiara.
In his brief remarks, MP Tei’ifi expressed his appreciation to the GNUT Government through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Development (MID) for funding the vehicle under the Transportation Fund.
MP Tei’ifi said, the vehicle will play a vital role in supporting the school’s infrastructure projects and improving daily operations.
He noted that the school has long faced challenges transporting construction materials such as sand, gravel, and timber for building works.
He also highlighted that teachers often travel to Auki to collect their salaries, resulting in classes being suspended for up to two days.
“This vehicle will help address those issues by making transportation easier and more efficient, ensuring that school activities and student learning are not disrupted,” he said.

The MP further urged constituents to be patient and avoid comparisons, assuring them that other schools will also receive similar support when funds become available.
“I call on everyone to take care of this vehicle. It is given for the school’s needs, so please work together to keep it in good condition,” Hon. Tei’ifi added.
Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Bobby Siarani also encouraged the school’s administration to use the vehicle responsibly.
“Gwaidingale has faced many logistical challenges, and we are pleased to assist. Apart from this vehicle, the constituency has also supported other schools and staff houses by installing solar power systems,” Siarani said.
Principal of Gwaidingale Community School, Mr. Chrisanto Kaeni, thanked Hon. Tei’ifi and the constituency office for their continuous support.
“This vehicle will greatly assist in running school operations and transporting materials for our development projects.
“We are also grateful to our MP for helping us build our new dining hall,” he said.
Mr. Kaeni urged the surrounding community to help care for the vehicle, emphasizing that it will benefit not only the school but also the teachers, students, and wider community.
