The umbrella body of Solomon Islands Non-Government Organisations, Development Services Exchange, has told the Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare to include them in discussions.
Secretary General of the Development Services Exchange, Nancy Jolo made the call following Mr Sogavare’s assurance that his government will work together with partners including NGOs and Civil Society when addressing the country’s development aspirations.
Ms Jolo said the Civil Society and the NGO sector support closer collaboration and cooperation with the new Solomon Islands Government.
She added that they will keep their commitment for strengthened participation by the Civil Society to ensuring sustainable national development.
She said the NGOs and the Civil Society will push for improved living standards in the rural areas especially as the country advances into achieving the Millennium Development Goals of the 21 first Century.
