Officers of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) at Auki Police Station in Malaita Province have arrested nine suspects in connection to an alleged arson and malicious damage incident at Masupa Village in East Are’are.
The alleged incident occurred on Sunday 19 April 2020, a statement from the Police Media Unit said.
The nine suspects include two females and seven males. It is alleged the suspects killed one live pig, burned one kitchen house and one semi-permanent dwelling house.
Supervising Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Malaita Province Superintendent William Foufaka said the suspects were arrested and appeared for mention on Tuesday 24th April 2020.
“They have been bailed and will reappear on 25 May 2020 at the Maka Magistrate Court tour,” he said.
He appeals to both parties in the incident to refrain from taking the law into their own hands but allow the police to investigate the matter.
“I call on people around the Masupa area to come forward to police with any information that will assist in the investigation into the matter,” said PPC Foufaka.
