The National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) on behalf of the National Team Contingent representing the Solomon Islands at the XV Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea, has expressed their appreciation and acknowledgement for all the moral and financial support rendered to the team.
A statement by NOCSI on Monday listed organizations and individuals who have rendered support one way or the other for the success of Team Solomon.
It stated it is through all these support that Team Solomon made a break through creating history for the number of medals won and Team Solomon final placing.
“The Historic success recorded by Team Solomon at the Games and the strong position by Solomon Islands on the Medal Tally is a manifestation of our solidarity.
“It is an achievement worthy of our celebrations.
“It was attained as a result of a collective financial and moral support given by all the good people of Solomon Islands, our Stakeholders and the National Government of Solomon Islands.
“It is a national pride and will be cherished for all time to come,” the statement reads.
Team Solomon at the recent Games made history being the first team to have won the highest number of medals and highest number of gold medals in any Pacific Games since Solomon Islands participated in the Games 30 years ago.
Team Solomon won a total of 28 medals the highest number of medals won since 1963, seven of which are gold medals which is also the highest the highest number of gold medals since 1963.
They won seven gold medals, six silver medals and 15 bronze medals.
Meanwhile NOCSI apologises if any organization or individual who might have contributed in one way or the other has not been mentioned.
