THE National Hosting Authority (NHA) and the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI) recently signed a technical event-based Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure athletes have access to coaching, training facilities and competition experience at the Solomon Islands National Institute of Sport High Performance Centre.
Officials from NHA, SINIS and NOCSI witnessed the MOU signing between NOCSI President Martin Rara and NHA Executive Director Christian Nieng at the SINIS ‘Open Day’ 2025 programme.
Rara said, by formalising the collaboration, both organisations can ensure that athletes receive necessary support in accessing coaches, training facilities and competition experience, which are crucial to prepare them to compete at high-level competitions.
He said, the MOU lays the foundation for a structured approach to athlete selection, preparation, performance-monitoring, identification of talents from the grassroots level and nurturing them to elite levels.
“This collaborative effort not only aims to elevate our athletes’ achievements, but also inspires national pride and encourages community engagement in sports.
“Ultimately, this agreement marks a pivotal investment in the future of sports in Solomon Islands, paving the way for a successful showing at the upcoming Palau Mini Games and reinforces our commitment to fostering a vibrant athletic culture for our athletes,” Rara added.
