Three clinics in the North Malaita Constituency have received timely assistance funded through the North Malaita Constituency Fund earlier this year.
The support included essential medical equipment, supplies and construction materials for Malu’u Clinic, Mbitaama Clinic and Musukui Clinic.
At Maluu Clinic, health workers received wheelchairs, crutches, assorted medical supplies and food rations to support patients and daily clinic operations.
The wheelchairs and crutches will assist elderly patients, people living with disabilities and those recovering from injuries to move safely and comfortably.
The medical supplies will enable nurses to carry out routine treatments, monitor patients and respond effectively to common illnesses.
The food rations will support admitted patients and ease the burden on families travelling from remote villages to seek medical care.
Similarly, Mbitaama Clinic received three wheelchairs, crutches and assorted medical supplies. The equipment will enhance the clinic’s capacity to assist patients with mobility challenges, including accident victims, expectant mothers with complications and individuals recovering from surgery or long-term illnesses.
Health workers expressed appreciation, noting that such equipment is often limited in rural facilities, making patient care more challenging.
Meanwhile, Musukui Clinic received construction and building materials to support ongoing infrastructure development.
The materials will be used to improve and expand the facility, creating a safer and more conducive environment for patients and medical staff.
Once completed, the upgraded infrastructure is expected to enhance service delivery and accommodate more patients.
In a statement, the Member of Parliament (MP) for North Malaita, Hon. Daniel Waneoroa, said the support reflects the constituency’s ongoing commitment to improving basic health services for rural communities and ensuring access to quality care closer to home.
Hon. Waneoroa encouraged communities throughout North Malaita to make full use of the improved services and equipment now available at their clinics.
He urged residents to prioritise regular health check-ups, seek early treatment when unwell and take personal responsibility for maintaining healthy lifestyles.
“Good health is directly linked to productivity.
“When our people are healthy, they can actively participate in farming, fishing, small businesses and other economic activities that support their families and the wider community.”
He also called on clinic staff and community leaders to take proper care of the equipment and materials provided, emphasising that maintaining them will ensure long-term benefits for future generations.
The support to Malu’u, Mbitaama and Musukui clinics forms part of the North Malaita Constituency’s broader development agenda to strengthen essential services and improve the wellbeing of its people.
The assistance is expected to benefit households across North Malaita, including residents of Lau Baelelea who access services at Malu’u Clinic.
The North Malaita Constituency, under the leadership of Hon. Daniel Waneoroa, plans to continue supporting the social sector in the constituency.
