The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Solomon Islands, Her Excellency Ms. Anne Grete Riise, presented her Letter of Credence to the Governor-General, His Excellency Sir David Tiva Kapu, during a formal ceremony on Wednesday (30th April 2025) at Government House.
In welcoming the Ambassador, Governor-General Sir David Tiva Kapu said he was honored to receive the Letter of Credence from His Majesty King Harald V, accrediting Ms. Riise as Norway’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Solomon Islands, as well as the Letter of Recall for her predecessor.
The Governor-General noted that, despite the geographical distance, Solomon Islands and Norway share a deep bond as oceanic nations committed to sustainable development and marine conservation.
He expressed appreciation for Norway’s global leadership on ocean-related issues, including its role in the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy and its ongoing efforts to combat illegal fishing and plastic pollution, priorities that align closely with the Solomon Islands’ own environmental goals.

He also acknowledged Norway’s valued role as a Dialogue Partner in the Pacific Islands Forum and its active contribution to the shared vision for a resilient and sustainable Blue Pacific, as articulated in the 2050 Strategy.
“I assure you of our full support as you undertake your duties,” Sir David said.
“I look forward to working closely with you to further strengthen the excellent relations between our two countries. May your tenure be marked by fruitful collaboration, mutual respect, and shared progress toward a peaceful and prosperous future for our peoples.”
In her remarks, Ambassador Riise reaffirmed Norway’s pride in being a Dialogue Partner to the Pacific Islands Forum since 2021.
She highlighted her anticipation of the upcoming Leaders Meeting in Honiara in September and reiterated Norway’s commitment to supporting the implementation of the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific.
“I also look forward to continuing and deepening our excellent bilateral relations,” Ambassador Riise said.
“Let me express my deepest respect for Your Excellency and my most sincere wishes for a peaceful and prosperous future for the people of Solomon Islands.”
