THE National Sports Council (NSC) will be supporting the Solomon Islands Football Federation (SIFF) to host five international events this year.
The NSC Chair Joe Sika Manuopangai said NSC’s provision of support to SIFF to host the five international events this year is amongst the many exciting activities on its agenda.
Mr Manuopangai said another exciting activity on NSC’s agenda is supporting the Solomon Islands Taekwondo Federation to host the Oceania Olympic Qualification event in April this year.
He said yet another exciting activity on NSC’s agenda is supporting the Solomon Islands Basketball Federation to present a bid to host the FIBA Oceania Melanesian Basketball Championships in 2025 using a newly acquired wooden floor.
“We know our facilities can accommodate these events and with the experience of organising the Pacific Games, we know our people can host these events.
“Through this, we want to encourage our next generation athletes to try these and other sports, more coaches to get involved, administrators to manage sport across the country and technical officials to guide the athletes.
“This is the development we want to see and which our youth want to experience,” an ambitious Mr Manuopangai said.
Mr Manuopangai highlighted the activities on NSC agenda in a statement to acknowledge the 17th Pacific Games National Hosting Authority (NHA) for successfully hosting the games.
