THE PARLIAMENTARY Opposition group says that Prime Minister, Manasseh Sogavare owes a lot of explanation to the people of this country.
Opposition Leader, Jeremiah Manele said this amidst the PM’s failure to respond to the serious issues labeled against his government.
Speaking to members of the media in a press conference on Sunday, Mr Manele said that they believed that the response that the PM made when they demanded him to convene parliament to debate the issues raised only means two things.
“Firstly, the legislative program of the government that looks at preparing Bills or whatever that will come before parliament is not even ready yet.
“This means that the government’s machinery is not working, because it is their work to prepare the Bills before Cabinet and then parliament,” Manele said.
“Secondly, the Prime Minister’s responds simply means that he does not care about the important issues or concerns that we raised as well as other stakeholders.
“These are important issues of concern for the people of this country.
“As I have said, the matters that we raised were not just petty politics but these were concerns based on principles that we question.
“Currently, what the government is doing does not reflect well on its promise to fight against corruption,” he added.
He added that, most of the issues that were raised were not issues of national interest but self-interest.
Meanwhile, the Opposition Leader also reiterated the call for the Prime Minister to convene parliament as soon as possible so that the issues raised can be debated on the floor of parliament.
