Solomon Islands international John Orobulu continued his fine form for Rewa FC, scoring four goals to help his side extend their lead at the top of the Fiji Extra Premier League after match-week 15.
The 23-year-old striker was the star of the show in Rewa’s 7-1 demolition of Nadi FC over the weekend, taking his tally to 16 goals and tightening his grip on the golden boot race.
“I thank God for the win and yesterday’s (Sunday) game. We have worked really hard to remain on top, and we sure did,” Orobulu told Star Sports on Monday.
He credited teamwork as the key to their success as Rewa push to defend their league title.
Fresh from claiming the Extra Battle of the Giants (BOG) Golden Boot and guiding his side to a second-place finish in that tournament last month, Orobulu now leads the league scoring charts.
“I feel so happy to be leading the golden boot race, but there is still a long way to go. The main aim is to win the league, and the golden boot will just be a bonus if I get it,” he said.
Captain Setareki Hughes also netted a brace, while Mosese Namumu added another in the rout of Nadi.
The win sees Rewa move to 36 points after 15 matches.
Meanwhile, Labasa FA which featured three Solomon Islanders players suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat to Ba FC on Sunday.
