Dear Editor – Last week, my Fruit Juice blender equipment could not function after only using it once since it was bought in April of this year.
I then decided to have it fixed from any local electrical firms in town.
After visiting a number of electrical firms, it was Guadalcanal electrics that decided to fix it for me.
I then left it with them and has been promised to come back a day because it was during the weekend when they were just closing down that I entered with my queries.
I returned after four days later and requested the outcome service and was informed that it was fixed and is now in good order. I enquired about the cost and was told to pay $250.
I then asked what was exactly wrong with the equipment and was told it was just a mismatch in the connections to the switch and so it was sorted out.
And that there were no new parts used on the equipment.
I could not believe my ears if this kind of job equates this kind of cost since it was almost the same price for the whole equipment.
During the issuing process of the receipt I even also heard whispers from some officers in the warehouse that the cost should only be $75 for the work done.
From hearing this, I thought to myself if that is the case then this must be a real daylight robbery of my money from this electrical firm.
And the fact that even people in there were not agreeing to this charge is even justification that I was being ripped for this small job which can only take less than ten minutes to fix.
And the fact that the cost of the service is almost equivalent to the original price of the whole equipment itself is in itself something to question.
The reason for raising this matter is to inform the public that there are certain firms out there including Guadalcanal Electrics Limited that cheat its customers and they should be cautioned about if they are looking for electrical services in town.
