THE constant overcrowding of vendors at the Central Market in Honiara has continued to raise more concerns by members of the public recently.
It is evident every day that there is an increase of vendors coming to town to sell their produce living some others to use the walk-ways to display their food crops and other products.
Speaking to the Solomon Star over the weekend, a concerned farmer Fox Uta said the issue with overcrowding at the market must be addressed now.
“It is a sorry sight to see when these poor market vendors are using the walk-ways to sell their produce.
“Where are the responsible body, this issue needs to be fixed so that every farmers can have a proper venue to do marketing,” Uta said.
He added, there is a must that this issue is addressed now that there is an increase on the number of market vendors coming to the city to do marketing.
“This is an alarming issue over the past few years, yet the responsible body failed to address.
“I am sympathising with these poor vendors and everybody deserved to be treated equally,” the Guadalcanal farmer told the Solomon Star.
Meanwhile, he said there should be reconstruction and erection other market outlets in the country to cater for the growing demand of farmers in the country.
Places like Henderson, King George, Kukum, and White River deserved to have a proper market venue being built to be used by farmers in the capital and the surrounding provinces who wished to sell their produces.
