The 9th Pacific Water and Wastewater Ministers Forum and 16th Pacific Water and Wastewater Association (PWWA) Conference and Expo (PWWC25) will be staged in Honiara next month.
The Solomon Islands Government, through the Ministry of Mines, Energy and Rural Electrification (MMERE) announced this in a statement on Monday.
The event will run from 25 to 29 August 2025 at the National Aquatic Centre in Honiara.
The theme for the event is “Water and Wastewater for All: Connecting people, policies, and communities for a shared sustainable future.”
The conference will bring together water and wastewater utility professionals, policymakers, researchers, young water professionals, and development partners from across the Pacific and beyond.
It aims to foster collaboration and share innovative solutions to strengthen water and wastewater services across the region.
In parallel with the conference and expo, the Pacific Water and Wastewater Ministers (PWWM) will convene for one and a half days to discuss water security issues and solutions critical to the security and well-being of our Blue Pacific Continent.
The objectives of the 9th PWWM Forum are:
- to elevate the collective voice of Pacific water security as a central pillar of Pacific development, resilience, and security;
- to progress sustainable financing and capacity-building opportunities to accelerate water security action;
The Solomon Islands Government, together with the Solomon Islands Water Authority, the PWWA Secretariat, and the Pacific Community (SPC), is working collaboratively to ensure the success of this event.
Last year Cook Islands hosted this event in Rarotonga.
Solomon Islands attended the event and was announced the next host.
PWWC25 is proudly supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and is expected to attract delegates from across the Pacific Islands region.
The Government and Solomon Water look forward to welcoming participants to Honiara for this landmark event, which reflects the Solomon Islands’ ongoing commitment to resilient, inclusive, and sustainable water and wastewater services for all.
