Strong calls for support have been echoed for parents whose children are attending Buma–Aoani Extension Early Childhood Education (ECE) in West Kwaio, Malaita.
The call was issued during a recent teachers and parents meeting.
The ECE Centre is currently operating under Buma Primary School.
A Chairman of Buma Aoani Extension Early Childhood Education (ECE) who also serves as Chairman of Buma Primary School, stressed the importance of preparing students to become future leaders.
“We want to prepare our students as leaders for tomorrow.
“I want to encourage our parents to please do your part for our children.”
He outlined his vision to see the school continue to develop beyond its current level, with hopes of expanding learning opportunities up to Form Four and even Form Five in the future.
According to the chairman, improving the school’s capacity will help ensure that children in the community receive quality education closer to home.
He also shared that he has been volunteering his time to support the school’s progress and the welfare of students.
He acknowledged that development in education requires unity and cooperation from everyone — teachers, parents, and the wider community.
During the meeting, a teacher also addressed parents, emphasising that children’s success in education largely depends on the support they receive at home.
“Without parents, their children will be affected in their education journey,” the staff said.
He encouraged mothers and fathers to take education seriously and make it a top priority in their families.
He further explained that when parents simply send children to school without proper support, follow-up, and encouragement, it can negatively affect their learning progress.
“I encourage parents to always give their full support towards their children when sending them to school,” the teacher added.
“Parents must work closely with teachers.”
The Aoani Extension Early Childhood Education (ECE) was established in past years and continues to operate under Buma Primary School as its mother school.
Leaders say collaboration between the two institutions has helped sustain early childhood learning in the area.
The meeting concluded with a shared understanding that education is a collective responsibility.
School leaders expressed confidence that with stronger parental involvement and continued community backing, the school can grow and better serve the next generation.
