Member for Paripao ward in North East Guadalcanal Andrew Rayboy encourages his community to engage in agriculture and agro-forestry to invite development taking place in their community.
He made the encouragement during a one day celebration to mark the Guadalcanal Province 31st second appointed day at Newtenabuti on Tuesday.
He said, development like road cannot reach them if the community did not do anything.
“I want you to go down to the ground and start planting trees, coconut and cocoa along the road so that it convinces the government and the province willing to build better road for you,” he told his community.
Mr Rayboy said, by 2018 he wants to see coconuts, trees and cocoa grows along the road to show something is on the ground.
“If we do things it will make the provincial government and the national government willing to build better road for us,” he added.
Minister of Provincial Affairs Father Lionel Lognaratha said, the provincial government have tough times but still remain one province and one people.
He said, the province is supporting the DCC policy in terms of development and our mission is to maintain peaceful co-existence with community and government.
Fr Lognaratha said, the province under the new executives focuses on effectively carrying out political will, social and economy restructuring.
“With this new focus we believe it will increase the rate of economy growth, build infrastructure, manage and protect environment, improve governance and participate in constitutional reform.
This year the provincial government spreads out it 31st second appointed day celebration to every ward to allow community part of the celebration.
Mr Rayboy clarified the celebration was held late because funds were not available on time.
