Parliament was adjourned by the Speaker of National Parliament on Monday morning due to lack of quorum.
A statement from the National Parliament Media Unit said, “This morning (Monday) in Parliament, the Leader of the Official Opposition Hon. Matthew Wale raised the question of quorum.”
According to Standing Order 12, pursuant to Section 67 of the Constitution, the Speaker ruled a 15 minute wait to allow ample time for other Members of Parliaments (MP’s) to enter the chamber.
However, because of a lack of numbers, the question of quorum raised was acknowledged and the Speaker ruled that “Parliament now stands adjourned until 9:30am, on Tuesday, 29th April 2025.”
Parliament resumed on Thursday morning where the Governor General (GG) delivered the traditional Speech from the Throne.
Following the GG speech, parliament was adjourned to Monday 28th April to allow Parliament to debate on the speech.
