GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Finance has announced that all teachers, police and public servants will start receiving their new re-levelled salaries and 3% COLA – Cost Of Living Adjustment starting this week.
Teachers will be the first to recieve their new re-levelled payout during their pay-run this week.
Speaking in Parliament on Monday, Finance Minister Harry Kuma informed the House that teachers will be the first to receive their re-levelled salary structure backdated to February 1st this week.
Minister Kuma said, this is part of Government’s commitment in implementing the Education Act approved in 2023.
He said, the Ministry of Education has been collaborating with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service to complete the cleansing and proper alignment of all teachers’date and public servants over the past six months.
The newly appointed finance minister added, the crosschecking of all data is important to have a completed data at 100 percent before being transferred into the payroll data.
“This has enabled subsequent adjustments and smooth transfer of data from the Ministry of Education into the aurion system.
“So I would like to inform the Honourable House that the relevelling of the teachers new salary structure and normal salary will be effective on May 15th which is Thursday this week.
“This will include the payout of the backdated re-levelled salary structure from February 1st 2025 as approved by a Cabinet decision.”
The finance minister further informed Parliament that following the approval of the 3% COLA – Cost Of Living Adjustment by Cabinet, all public servants are expected to receive their backdated payout next week.
“As you may be aware in 2025 Government also approved a 3 percent COLA – Cost of Living Adjustment.
“Therefore I would like to announce that the 2025 COLA Adjustment for the established and non-established public servants will be effective in the pay run on May 22.
“This will include the payout of the backdated COLA to January 1st portion as well as the COLA adjusted salaries hence forth,” he said.
For teachers and police, they will receive their COLA during their next pay run on May 29.
“Similarly, the 2025 COLA adjustments for teachers based on re-levelled pay structure and police will be effective on May 29.
“This will include the payout of backdated COLA to January 1st 2025 as well as COLA adjusted salaries hence forth,” he said.
Minister Kuma said, the revelling structure and COLA payout will benefit all teachers, police and the public servants.
The new salary structure for teachers and COLA payout for all public servant is costing the government millions of dollars.
