A new piggery project for Kindu Community under Ward 15 Munda in Western Province has been described as a significant step toward strengthening local economic development and improving livelihoods at the grassroots level.
The initiative, implemented through the Ward Development Committee (WDC) with support from the Provincial Capacity Development Fund (PCDF), is spearheaded by the Member of Provincial Assembly for Ward 15, Hon. Palin Veo.
Speaking on the development, residents in Munda and community leaders acknowledged that although the project is modest in scale, it provides a practical and sustainable opportunity for income generation and food security within the community.
The piggery project is expected to support local food production while creating avenues for families to participate in small-scale economic activities, contributing to rural development in the ward.
Community leaders say the initiative also aligns with broader national and provincial priorities aimed at strengthening agriculture, promoting economic diversification, and enhancing food security.
They emphasized that agriculture continues to play a vital role in the country’s economy, and called on both provincial and national authorities to further support the sector through improved policies, capacity building, and resource allocation.
The community also acknowledged the leadership of Hon. Veo for his continued support in driving development initiatives in Ward 15.
Meanwhile, plans are underway for the rollout of a similar project at Tabaka Centre in the coming weeks as part of ongoing efforts to support rural communities across the province.
