Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare reiterated on the need for our local journalists to be more professional in their career, by breeding good journalism that will hold public trusts.
Speaking during the Media Association Solomon Islands (MASI) anniversary celebration held at the Honiara Hotel on Wednesday evening, the guest of honour said that media plays a very important role in any country, given its vital job to keep feeding the nation with information happening around them.
He also said that media is powerful, as it stands to voice out the concerns and interests of the people that will promotes good governance for our society.
“Our journalists must strive to breed good journalism, showing brilliant efforts in their career to keep the nation inform on accurate information that worth reporting in the news.”
Sogavare continued by stressing that journalists ought to be professionals in their job, by reporting on right information and not just relying on hearsay to publish in their news.
He said that being a good journalist will help our country to move forward in development and also helps our nation to trust the work of the media with much respect and credibility held for journalists.
