Prime Minister (PM) Jeremiah Manele on Wednesday 9th July launched the official theme and logo for the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting (PIFLM), during a special ceremony at the Trade Fair Grounds, SINU Village.
Scheduled for 8 to 12 September 2025, the Forum Leaders Meeting marks a proud and significant moment for Solomon Islands to host the region, reaffirming national commitment to Pacific unity and shared priorities.
The official theme — “Iumi Tugeda: Act Now for an Integrated Blue Pacific Continent” — was unveiled as a bold call to collective action.
The Prime Minister emphasised that the theme goes beyond symbolism, representing a united and urgent approach to regional challenges, from climate change and ocean protection to digital transformation and economic recovery.
“This is more than a theme — it is a call to action. It is a signal to the world that the Pacific stands united in vision and voice,” the Prime Minister said.
He highlighted that the phrase “Iumi Tugeda” reflects Pacific solidarity and deep-rooted values of kinship and mutual care, while “Act Now” speaks to the pressing nature of regional issues.
“An Integrated Blue Pacific Continent” was described as a vision for a more connected, resilient, and unified region.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the foundational work of previous governments in securing Solomon Islands’ role as host and expressed appreciation to Forum Leaders for entrusting the country with this responsibility.
He noted that preparations have spanned multiple administrations — a reflection of enduring national commitment to Pacific regionalism.
As part of preparations, a national logo design competition was held last month, attracting 45 entries.
The Prime Minister praised the creativity and patriotism shown by participants, describing their work as expressions of national pride and regional identity.
The winning design by Mr. Philip Tepuika was acknowledged during the ceremony, with a certificate and award presented in recognition of his work.
The official logo was then revealed on large screens to those gathered at the venue.
“To everyone who participated — I commend your creativity, initiative, and national pride,” the Prime Minister added. “Your contributions made the selection process both challenging and rewarding.”
The Prime Minister reaffirmed high expectations for the Leaders Meeting, stating that its success would be defined by tangible outcomes and collective resolve — not just statements or declarations.
He also took the opportunity to commend the efforts of those involved in the 2025 National Trade Fair, including the organising committee, public servants, local businesses, and stallholders.
Despite recent weather challenges, he said their dedication had helped bring the event to life and reflected the resilience of Solomon Islanders.
The Prime Minister encouraged citizens to prepare to welcome the Pacific family in September with pride and unity. He said the moment offered Solomon Islands an opportunity to showcase its Pacific spirit and stand tall as part of the Blue Pacific Continent.
