Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare will be leading a delegation to the 51st Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) summit in Fiji, Friday.
The summit will convene from July 11 to 14.
Prime Minister Sogavare will join other pacific leaders in celebrating the 50th anniversary of PIF in Fiji.
The forum leaders are expected to launch the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent. The strategy will be the blue print of regional cooperation going into the future.
Leaders are expected to reform the PIF and strengthen the unity and solidarity of the pacific.
Prime Minister Sogavare is also expected to sign a bilateral Maritime Agreement with his Fiji counterpart Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama at the margins of the regional leaders’ summit.
Prime Minister Sogavare will be joined by his Foreign Minister Jeremiah Manele, who is already in Fiji for the Forum Foreign Minister’s Meeting this week ahead of the PIF Leaders’ Summit.
A Special Melanesian Spearhead Group Summit is also expected to be held during the course of next week in Fiji.
Prime Minister Sogavare and his delegation are expected back in the country on July 15.
