The people of Solomon Islands have been acknowledged for their exceptional hospitality and combined hard work during the 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders’ Meeting in the country last week.
Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele expressed on behalf of the National Government, extended his heartfelt gratitude following the successful hosting of the weeklong event.
Prime Minister Manele acknowledged the tireless efforts of leaders, civil society, the private sector, state-owned enterprises, churches, and provinces in making the event a success.
Manele conveyed his special appreciation to Temotu Province, the Premier, and the Diocese of Temotu for receiving the Uto Ni Yalo ahead of the meeting, and to the Chiefs and people of Taumako-Vaeakau for the visit of the Tepuke along with the Uto Ni Yalo to Honiara.
The Prime Minister also thanked the Premier and people of Guadalcanal, the public of Honiara, and provincial representatives for their participation in the opening ceremony on Monday, 8 September, including the Premier and Chiefs of Western Province for hosting the Pacific Leaders’ retreat at Noro on Thursday, 11th of September 2025.
“The success of the 54th forum leaders meeting belongs to the people of Solomon Islands and all those who worked tirelessly across government, the National Organising Committee and its sub-committees, line ministries, the police, the private sector, the state-owned enterprises, statutory bodies, and contractors.
“You have all provided an enabling environment for our regional leaders to meet here at home,” Manele said.
Similarly, the Prime Minister also appreciated the support of donor partners, including Australia, Indonesia, China, and New Zealand.
“With much gratitude, Solomon Islands thank all partners, in particular Australia, Indonesia, China, and New Zealand, for their generous contribution and support to our preparations and hosting of the event. Facilities at the sports city continue to serve the country well in hosting a growing number of regional and international meetings,” Manele added
“With a Umi Tugeda spirit, the government once again paid tribute to the cabinet, members of parliament, Honiara residents, the City Mayor, Premiers, Chiefs, and the People of Solomon Islands for their prayers, cooperation, and support that helped deliver a successful 54th Pacific Islands Forum,”.
“Tagio tumas, Umi Tugeda: Act now for an integrated Blue Pacific continent,” the Prime Minister said.
“May God bless Solomon Islands from shore to shore.”
