Malaita Province Police commander Lesley Kili has appealed to communities to respect the election process as the country prepares for the Joint National General Elections on April 17.
Kili made the appeal after police attended to reports of conflict between supporters of candidates in North Malaita and central Kwara’ae constituency this week.
It was reported that there are tenses happened during campaigning in central kwara’ae, Baegu Asifola and North Malaita constituency which causing hatred between supporters and communities.
Mr Kili said public should respect the process of election and allow police to deal with issue related to crime rather than taking laws in to own hands.
He said Police has been prepared to province security and assistance during and after the election to ensure everyone participate freely during the election.
He encourages public and community leaders to work together with police and responsible Authority concerning to create a peaceful for everyone.
He added that criminal activity that may disturb the people movement during and after the election should be reported immediately to police.

“Police in Malaita all ready prepare to provide security during this election. It is important for community leaders and members of the public to continue work with the police provide free and peaceful election in Malaita province.” Mr Kili said
He reiterated his call on supporters of candidates to respect each other during this time of campaigning and polling day on 17th next week.
