The Police Response Department (PRD) of the Royal Solomon Island Police Force (RSIPF) over the weekend conducted a route march as part of preparations for the Pacific Island Forum Leaders (PIFL) meeting.
The route march started at Ranandi roundabout in East Honiara all the way to Honiara City Council (HCC), and the teams break up into different teams, and they conducted foot beat patrol to different crime hot spots in Honiara city, which include Honiara Central Market.
Director PRD, Superintendent Lional Kapisa, said, “As RSIPF is preparing for PIFL, it is important for PRD and its Police Support Units to continue to maintain their fitness standards and discipline.
Director Kapisa said, “This route march brings all members together as part of RSIPF operational readiness and is an opportunity to reinforce to officers the importance of discipline.

“The route march was an opportunity to inform the public that RSIPF is preparing to provide security for the upcoming PIFL meeting and continuing to maintain law and order in Honiara and other provinces,” Mr. Kapisa said.
He said, “Furthermore, officers were involved in a foot beat from HCC to Central Police Station, targeting illegal activities and other offenses committed along the streets.
The public needs to see the RSIPF presence on the streets and interact with our people.
The route march brings members of the Correctional Services of Solomon Islands (CSSI) Emergency Response Group (ERG), Central Response Unit (CRU), and PRD together, building a strong team in solidarity in preparation for the PIFL.
