Police at Taro in the Choiseul Province are investigating the alleged firing of a firearm at the Luti Logging Camp in South Choiseul on 28 March 2018.
“It is alleged that at around 9 am on 28 March three security officers from a local security company went up to a logging concession area. When the security officers approached the area of operation, they heard what was believed to be a gunshot coming from the nearby bush. The security officers returned and reported the alleged gunshot to their supervisor who informed Police here at Taro,” says Provincial Police Commander, Choiseul Province Superintendent Cedar Nevol.
“Since the incident was reported my officers have been investigating the matter but so far no arrests have been made. I appeal to members of the public around the area of the alleged incident at the Luti Logging Camp to come forward with any information they may have that might assist the Police with their investigation into the matter,” says PPC Nevol.
Superintendent Nevol explains: “It is illegal for anyone in Solomon Islands to be in possession of any firearm or ammunition. Members of the communities in Choiseul Province are encouraged to report any one who they know that is in possession of a firearm or ammunition to the Taro Police Station.”
