POLICE will continue to monitor the industrial dispute at Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA), police chief Frank Prendergast says.
A 28-day strike notice the workers issued lapsed on Tuesday, but it’s understood the workers have decided not to go on strike.
Mr Prendergast said police are very grateful for the support they received from the Workers Union and the Ports Authority in dealing with the matter.
“I just wanted to advise that we are continuing to monitor the issues with the Ports Authority,” Mr Prendergast said.
“As you aware that strike notice lapses on Tuesday, and I think there’s been a decision by the workers not to go on strike,” Mr Prendergast stated.
‘’We were very grateful for the support we’ve got from both the Workers Union and from the Ports Authority in dealing with matter.”
The Police boss also reminded everyone that better ways to solve their issues is through dialogue.
