THE death of a 14- year-old girl at Paila village, Tangarare in West Guadalcanal is currently being investigated by officers of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) in Guadalcanal province.
The incident occurred fortnight ago on 19 October 2019.
It is alleged that on 18 October 2019, the deceased and her girlfriend went to a nearby village to witness a handing over ceremony of a project at a Home Stay in the area.
She did not return home, the report stated.
It is further alleged that during that night both girls were amongst some boys who were drinking alcohol at Paila village.
In the early hours of the next day, she was found laying on top of a canoe complaining about stomach-ache by her friend.
She was weak and unable to stand up by herself and it was that time that they saw blood flowing down from between her legs. They assisted her to a boat, took her to her village, and informed her parents.
She was taken to the Tangarare clinic and immediately was referred to National Referral Hospital in Honiara.
On the way to Honiara, the deceased passed away. The body was returned home and buried.
The matter was reported to police by the deceased’s uncle after there were some arguments after the burial.
“I would like to call on people around Paila to Kokomuruka to assist police with this investigation.
“Please come forward with any information regarding this matter that will help our investigation,” said Supervising Provincial Police Guadalcanal Province Nixson Manetoga.
“I would also like to call on relatives of the deceased and any other parties not to take the law into your own hands,” he said.
