Police will continue to maintain their high visibility presence in the coming days ahead of the formation of a new government and the election of a new prime minister.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast said it is important that Police maintain high visibility in the centre of Honiara, communities, and especially hot spot areas.
He said this is to help tackle petty crimes that may arise and also crack down on illegal gatherings which may stir up anti-social behaviour.
Prendergast said although Police do not anticipate any disturbances as experienced in the past, he stressed that it is important police maintain their high visibility presence.
“We will be patrolling all areas in town and also will be on alert for any public disorder or anti-social behaviour that may pose threat toward law and order in Honiara, especially during the Prime Minister’s election,” Prendergast said.
He called for more support toward police from all citizens both in Honiara and the province as the country looks to achieve yet another peaceful election within the next couple of weeks.
