There has been a drastic decrease in number of careless driving incidents in Honiara as reported by the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) Traffic Department at Kukum for the period 23 February – 01 March 2018.
Acting Director of RSIPF Traffic Department, Inspector Brian Surimalefo says, “I am pleased to announce that there has been an improvement to careless driving, compared to the previous, especially with vehicles creating an extra third lane along the roads.”
“During the week, 23 February – 1 March, the cases recorded for careless and inconsiderate driving is 7, while for the previous week, it was 23 cases, a decrease of 16 cases.
“This is a very good indication, that drivers are getting the police traffic message not to create the extra third lane when there should be only two lanes and drivers not using their signal lights or indicating lights when turning or about to stop or park,” says Director Surimalefo.
Inspector Surimalefo added, “While some drivers are getting the message, there are a few still not getting it and continue to create the third lane and not using their signal lights when required.”
“I want to thank vehicle drivers and owners who are heeding the messages. Please continue to follow these simple traffic safety messages and encourage your colleagues to do the same,” says Inspector Surimalefo.
