The Maritime police is conducting a joint operation with the Forum Fisheries Agency.
Deputy Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga at the police weekly conference on Thursday said the operation is mainly to support FFA in a program called Tui Moana and Island Chiefs.
She said this joint operation is about forming a working relationship with the FFA and Fisheries to maintain the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ).
“At the same time it is to strengthen the cooperation between different stakeholders to be able to improve the work relationship in areas that is related to fisheries.”
She said the program started on June 13 and will end on June 24.
Ms Matanga said when the program ends, they will be looking at lessons they have learnt and discuss further areas they can improve on.
