PEOPLE of Aruligo in Northwest Guadalcanal have expressed concern over poor Bemobile network connectivity which continues to affect residents, including services, businesses and schools.
An elder from the area, Simon Lepo expressed dismay over the dire situation, stating that, “the unreliable mobile network in the area affects Bemobile customers and their access to other services.”
Mr Lepo said there are many university students residing in the area and most of them are doing studies online and the poor network connectivity affects their studies.
‘’We have schools and university students here and they are affected by the poor. They cannot access their online modules and cannot do research online.
“Further to struggling with online access, they also cannot communicate with their teachers and lectures by phone and this situation affects their academic progress.
“Our school teachers also cannot access online information to aid them in their teaching, nor can they communicate with each other or students by email and text messages,” he stressed.
Mr Lepo said the poor network connectivity also affects health services and in particular emergency cases as ambulances cannot be contacted.
“In emergency situations, every second counts. The poor mobile network can delay communication between medical professionals, affecting timely responses and potentially putting lives at risk.
“Access to telemedicine and health information is also severely limited, impacting the overall wellbeing of the community.
‘’We have to walk for distances, climb mountains and even climbed on to house roofs to catch network signals,” he said.
Mr Lepo urges Bemoble to immediately address this challenge to avoid causing inconvenience.
