Recently there are baseless allegation that Chinese Embassy interferes in Solomon Islands’ internal affairs.
The Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands in a statement issued on Monday said, that non-interference in other’s internal affairs is the basic principle of China’s foreign policy.
“China will never interfere in Solomon Islands’ internal affairs, and also firmly oppose any other countries’ interference in Solomon Islands’ internal affairs. Chinese Embassy firmly opposes such baseless allegation, and reiterates its support to the political stability of Solomon Islands.
“We are confident that under the leadership of Prime Minister Manele, Solomon Islands will make new accomplishments in national development.”
The Embassy said, China appreciates Solomon Islands Government’s firm commitment to the one-China principle, which is the political foundation of our two countries’ bilateral relations.
In July 2024, China and Solomon Islands issued the Joint Statement during Prime Minister Manele’s visit to China, stating that “Solomon Islands is firmly committed to the one-China principle, and recognizes that there is but one China in the world, that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory, and that the government of the People’s Republic of China is the sole legal government representing the whole of China. Solomon Islands firmly opposes ‘Taiwan independence’ in any form, firmly supports all efforts by Chinese government to realize national reunification.
“We are confident that Solomon Islands Government will continue to uphold its firm commitment to the one-China principle. We will continue to work closely with the Solomon Islands Government to bring our friendship and cooperation to a new height,” the statement said.
