The People’s Republic of China (PRC) Embassy in Honiara has made a timely donation of essential livelihood materials to the Rennell and Bellona Provincial Executive on Thursday.
The donation includes:
- 1 small diesel generator
- 8 sewing machines
- 30 wheeled garbage bins
- 120 solar-powered flashlights
- 40 solar power systems with charging panels
- 30 radios
Chargé d’Affaires to the Solomon Islands, Mr. Ding Yonghua, expressed hope that these supplies would contribute to improving township management and enhancing the quality of life for people in Renbel Province.
“We hope these welfare supplies will help improve daily living conditions and benefit the local communities,” Mr. Ding said during the handover ceremony.
Speaking on behalf of the Renbel delegation, Deputy Provincial Secretary (DPS) Aubrey Saueha welcomed the donation and described it as a timely show of support for the province.
“This support is well-suited for our rural communities, especially for women’s groups and small community-based organisations,” Mr. Saueha said, expressing his gratitude to the Chinese government.
In addition, Renbel Premier Derrick Pongi is expected to lead a delegation to China to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the province of Hainan, to establish a sister-province relationship.
The sister relationship aims to lay a strong foundation for future cooperation in key areas such as trade, agriculture, fisheries, education, and people-to-people exchanges between Renbel and Hainan.
