A YOUNG man who allegedly had sexual intercourse with an underage girl last year at her parent’s home is facing a pre-trial conference next.
The case will return to court on July 2 where the next step in this case will be decided as to whether a principal magistrate will conduct the conference on that date or a new date will be fixed.
His lawyer was not present in court when the matter was mentioned this week and is likely to turn up on the next date.
The young lad whose name was withheld to protect the girl’s identity was charged with one count of defilement.
He allegedly had sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl on November 17, last year.
The alleged incident occurred at the house of the girl’s parents at Lengakiki, Honiara.
The Public Solicitor’s Office represented the accused while the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions appeared for the state.
