MALAITA Premier Elijah Asilaua has dismissed what he described as recent misconceptions surrounding his leadership, reaffirming his commitment to lawful governance, transparency, and financial accountability during a Provincial Assembly meeting in Auki.
Addressing the Assembly, Premier Asilaua said all actions taken under his leadership were within the mandate entrusted to him and in full compliance with provincial legislation, formal legal processes, and sound financial management practices.
“I firmly affirm that all actions taken have been within the mandate entrusted to me,” he said, adding that his leadership has been guided by integrity, transparency, and adherence to established laws.
The premier cautioned members against allowing unverified claims to create division within the Assembly, noting that the province has limited time left to implement key policies and development programs expected by the people of Malaita.
“There is only a short time left to implement our policies and programs, and the future of Malaita Province depends on our collective action,” Asilaua told members.
He urged Assembly members to set aside political differences and work together in unity, emphasizing that meaningful development can only be achieved through cooperation and mutual respect.
The premier also reaffirmed the commitment of the Malaita Economic Cooperation and Transformative Government to principles of good financial governance, stating that public resources continue to be managed responsibly despite ongoing fiscal constraints.
“Despite fiscal limitations, we remain committed to delivering quality services as mandated by our people and the national government,” he said.
Premier Asilaua concluded by reiterating his focus on accountability and service to the people of Malaita, expressing confidence that collective effort would help build a stronger and more prosperous province.
