Premier of Western Province Robert Pye Kuve has been sent to Australia for medical treatment.
Provincial secretary Adrian Tony is accompanying the premier.
They left on Friday.
According to deputy premier Wayne Maepio, the medical trip was facilitated by the Office of the Prime Minister.
Maepio thanked the Prime Minister’s Office to assisting the province to get its premier for expert medical assistance in Australia.
He said Premier Kuve is expected to be in Australia for 10 days.
Secretary to the Office of the Prime Minister Joseph Waleanisia confirmed the PMO facilitating the trip.
Maepio is currently acting premier.
