POLICE investigation into a theft at the Super Power shop at White River, West of Honiara, involving a shop assistant and another man, is continuing.
Shop assistant, Solo Selwyn, and Eikana Wate are jointly charged with one count of house breaking and committing a felony.
They both appeared in the Honiara Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and their matter was further adjourned to September 24.
Public Prosecutor Monica Rehomora, who appeared on behalf of the prosecution, said the matter is a new one, hence, no prosecutor has yet been allocated for this case.
She updated the court the investigation is ongoing and that the outstanding documents yet to be collected is the photo album.
She therefore sought a14-day adjournment to enable the investigation to complete.
Partial disclosures were provided to Defence Counsel Thompson Fiuga from the Public Solicitor’s Office.
Principal Magistrate Elma Veenah Rizzu Hilly adjourned the matter and directed prosecution to ensure they obtained serve the photo album to the defence counsel in good time so plea can be entered.
She also directed that a prosecutor be allocated for this case before the next date.
The two defendants, who are currently on bail, allegedly committed the offence on August 24 of this year at White River.
According to the allegations, Solo, a shop assistant at Super Power, and Wate, conspired to steal from the shop.
Solo allegedly damaged the CCTV camera cables and hid a large sum of money in a bag, while Wate hid in the second-hand section.
However, their plan was foiled when Solo’s supervisor locked the main door, preventing Wate’s escape.
A small knife used to cut the CCTV camera cables was confiscated.
During the police interview, Solo admitted to masterminding the operation and communicated with Wate via mobile phone.
At around after 8pm, informants alerted police at White River, and the two defendants were arrested.
