PEOPLE of Sigana ward in Isabel have welcomed the provincial government’s plan to improve the two kilometre road at Kamosi.
Premier James Habu and his executive have already allocated funding for the road repair.
The road stretched from Kasera sea side to the school area and is currently the main mode of travel by foot for the students of Sir Tuti College and the travelling public.
The road project has been delayed for sometimes in the past because of lack of funds.
However, Chief Hugh Tazzy Bogese said the premier has assured them that Isabel Provincial Government has now secured funding for improvement of the road under its infrastructure development budget.
He said that the people are particularly happy with the premier and his executive for their efforts to develop the province this far.
Mr Bogese added that this is the kind of assistance and Infrastructure development the people of Gao/Bugotu expect from their leaders.
Chief Bogese said that the Isabel Provincial executive’s commitment to the Kamaosi road project is only the beginning and shows the way for much more needed infrastructure development for the area.
He said that once the road project is completed, it would greatly assist the students and staff of Sir Tuti College to transport their goods such as rations and other heavy materials from the sea port to the school.
Mr Bogese added that the school and community within the area might now consider acquiring vehicle for road transportation. – By Charles Fox Lemoa
