A LOT of good things have been heard of as being done by the provincial governments and the Honiara City Council in order to improve the living standards of our people.
Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Provincial Government and Institutional Strengthening (MPGIS), Stanley Pirione said this during the official opening of the pre-conference of the Provincial Premiers conference held in Honiara.
The one-day pre-conference in preparation for the Provincial Premiers conference proper was attended by the Provincial Premiers, Honiara City Mayor, Provincial Secretaries and Honiara city clerk.
The Premiers conference proper will start on 5th – 9th October 2015. The annual conference which will take in the capital Honiara will be , co-hosted by Guadalcanal Province and the Honiara City Council.
Mr Pirione told the premiers and the lord mayor that a lot of development projects are being implemented by the provincial governments and Honiara City Council designed to lay foundations of a stronger economic base for development of our nation”
“All your great efforts to the achievements are appreciated despite the back drop of lack of adequate facilities and sometimes difficult working environment,” Mr Pirione said.
He reminded the premiers and the city lord mayor that indicative of items in their agenda, they would be expected to have busy day discussions on important matters in preparation for the 8th premiers conference ahead..
The premiers were expected to finalize formal agreement on the proposed programme for the premiers conference proper as drawn up jointly by the Honiara city council and Guadalcanal Province.
The Minister for Provincial government assures the premier of his ministry’s full support for the premiers conference proper.
