The Provincial Secretary of Western Province is in Tokyo, Japan to engage with major donor partners on key development initiatives.
Patrick Toiraena departed the country on Sunday for the three-day regional workshop under the LEADS (Lead. Adapt. Scale.) Program, a joint initiative involving the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
Speaking to local media prior to his departure, Mr Toiraena said the workshop brings together teams from selected development projects financed by ADB, JICA, the World Bank and IFC across the region.
He said the program will focus on priority sectors including infrastructure, governance and health.
According to Mr Toiraena, the workshop aims to strengthen participants’ capacity to understand impact evaluation techniques and to develop practical skills in applying those evaluations to their respective projects.
“The program aims to establish a regional learning agenda that integrates global evidence and trial-and-adopt impact evaluations into project design and implementation,” he said.
He added that the initiative is co-created with policymakers, operational teams and researchers to help guide projects towards achieving stronger and more sustainable development outcomes.
The workshop, hosted by the World Bank Group with support from ADB, is being held in Tokyo from January 26 to 29.
