THE second quarter final match of the Credit Corporation High School competition for junior category between St Johns and Panatina ended with a 5 all draw.
Both teams after having discussion with games officials decided not to continue with their game to allow the second match of the day for senior category between Selwyn College and KG VI School.
“After having conversation with the games officials we decided to leave the matter for organising committee to deal with it so that the second match of the day could continue,’’ St Johns team manager Pautangata Tepuke said.
The quarter final match started off well yesterday with both teams putting on their best performance, however St Johns dominated the game by pushing more pressure on their opponent defence line.
The match should have been turned out different if St Johns utilized their opportunities in both stanzas.
Mr Tepuke also revealed that they should have won their quarter final match yesterday but their opponent really played a very good defensive game.
“If my boys utilized their golden chances in both halves we should won the game yesterday.
“Our opponent also played well against us, thus we could not convert our chances.
It was Panatina who took the lead in the first half, after young Siama John intercepted a poor pass from St Johns players in his territory.
Siama without hesitation made a solo run and gave his school the much needed lead, however he failed to convert their conversion.
Despite trailing behind St Johns maintained their pressure and it was paid off just before final whittle when Alban Kome scored a try for his team, however his conversion was unsuccessful leaving both teams with 5-5.
Tepuke said they will work on their weaknesses to make sure they utilize them in the next match.
“Our attacking was good but finishing is our problem, so we will work on them and hope to improve on them,’’ Tepuke added.
Matches will continue this weekend at the Panatina rugby oval.
