The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF), with advisory support from the Australian Federal Police (AFP) through the RSIPF–AFP Policing Partnership Program (RAPPP), ensured a safe and secure 54th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders (PIFL) Meeting in the country.
In the lead-up to and throughout the Forum, RAPPP advisors facilitated upgrades to both Honiara Central Police Station and Henderson Police Station, establishing modern Police Forward Command Posts designed to enhance operational coordination across the region.
Frontline units, including the Provincial Response Unit (PRU), Liquor Unit, and Traffic Team, also received critical safety and administrative equipment.
These contributions proved vital in maintaining officer safety and community protection during the Forum and will continue to benefit RSIPF operations well into the future.
Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Guadalcanal Province, Chief Superintendent Rodney Kuma, acknowledged the impact of the enhancements.
PPC Kuma said, “we are very thankful to work with our RAPPP Advisor in identifying what support we required for the improvement of our Police Forward Command Post (PFCP) at Henderson Police Station.
“The newly established PFCP strengthened Guadalcanal Province’s capacity to command, control, and coordinate resources for the PIFL and will support many more operations in the future,” said Chief Superintendent Kuma.
RAPPP Advisors also worked closely with the National Traffic Department and local teams to address emerging needs in real time, ensuring RSIPF officers were fully equipped to carry out their duties effectively.
Beyond the Forum, RAPPP remains committed to supporting RSIPF operations and strengthening policing capacity across the Solomon Islands.
