Red eye cases are on the rise in the Malaita Provincial capital, Auki and surrounding villages.
This was confirmed by the Kiu’ufi Hospital In-section Control Officer Nixon Olofisau on Monday.
Mr. Olofisau expressed said there have been a steady increase of Red eye cases in Auki and the surrounding communities over the past days.
He said provincial health authority is aware of the latest increase therefore will conduct the first ever meeting on the issue today.
“We will hold a meeting tomorrow (today) to discuss ways to counter attack the red eye epidemic to be followed by awareness on how to prevent and treat red eye”, he said.
The outcome of the meeting and the approaches will make known to the Auki residence and surrounding villages after the meeting today.
