Last Monday , near retirees of Solomon Telekom-Gizo, Munda and Noro have been equipped with invaluable knowledge and skills that can help them better prepare for time when they will exit formal employment or retire from work.
In addition the training help them to effectively and wisely manage their final payout and other benefits including the lump sum NPF saving.
Thirteen (13) participants completed the one day course which was facilitated by Solomon Islands Small Business Enterprise Centre.
It was an eye opener for the trainees as most Solomon Islanders fail to see that there is retirement stage in life. Near retirees saw why retirees run out of money in the first two to three years and left with nothing for the remaining years where they are faced with health problems and other financial needs.
The course also suggested options to consider at retirement especially with the use of money. The near retirees were taught there will be a life change in life: from routine work to almost unplanned life.
The course do not only emphasize on financial management but also changing habits to suit the retirement stage in life.
Telekom made no mistake in making the course available to its employees as part of its employee development program. SISBEC wish to thank Telekom management who made the training possible and wish to continue to work together.
