A national workshop to review and update the Solomon Islands National Infrastructure Investment Plan (SINIIP) and Priority Pipeline was successfully held on Wednesday August 13 2025.
Government through the Ministry of National Planning and Development Coordination (MNPDC) facilitated the workshop.
The gathering was attended by senior government officials, state-owned enterprises, development partners, and NGOs, aimed to validate and prioritize major unfunded infrastructure projects.
Permanent Secretary Mr. Brian Lenga emphasized the importance of infrastructure in driving sustainable and inclusive growth, highlighting the need for a well-prioritized project pipeline to guide national development.
The updated SINIIP will provide a clear process for assembling and prioritizing projects aligned with the National Development Strategy.
The review process is led by a team of experts from the Pacific Region Infrastructure Facility (PRIF) and international consultants.
During the workshop, participants reviewed infrastructure projects, discussed prioritization criteria, and learned about developing Project Screening Notes to ensure projects are investment-ready.
The updated SINIIP will serve as a framework for prioritizing large-scale capital investments in key sectors, including transport, energy, water, and sanitation. MNPDC acknowledged the support of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and PRIF in the review process.
The workshop’s outcomes will inform the finalization of the national priority project list and preparation of a government-endorsed dossier for funding consideration.
Deputy Secretary Roy Mae thanked participants for their engagement and sought their continued support in providing project information.
